We gather to praise God

Prelude Grace Johnson
Welcome & Opportunities for Ministry Dennis Whittle
Opening Prayer:
God of miracles and truth, bless us, as we gather for worship, with the power of your Holy
Spirit. Reveal your presence in our midst and open our hearts and minds to receive you into
our home. Make our hearts be fired by the Holy Spirit and may we go forth as witnesses of your
resurrection. Amen.
Call to Worship:
L. Turn to Christ,
P. who comes to us here on the way.
L. Place your trust in God,
P. who protects our lives.
L. Lean into Spirit,
P. as we worship in Spirit and truth.

Opening Hymn: “Where Cross the Crowded Ways of Life” UMH #427, vs 1,5&6
1.Where cross the crowded ways of life, where sound the cries of race and clan,
Above the noise of selfish strife, we hear your voice, O Son of man.

5.O Master, from the mountainside make haste to heal these hearts of pain;
Among these restless throngs abide; O tread the city’s streets again,

6.Till all the world shall learn your love and follow where your feet have trod,
Till, glorious from your heaven above, shall come the city of our God!

Scripture: Luke 24: 13-45 Shad Fattig
Leader: This is the living Word of God.
People: Thanks be to God!

Children’s Time: “Jesus Loves Me” UMH 191 Dennis Whittle
Tithes and Offerings:
Offertory Prayer:
Generous God of love and grace, bless these gifts with your abundant love and your life-giving

all that we do. Amen.

Offertory Hymn: “O How He Loves You & Me” FWS #2108, vs 1&2
1.O how he loves you & me! O how he loves you & me! He gave his life. What more could he do?

O how he loves you; O how he loves me; O how he loves you & me!

  1. Jesus to Calv’ry did go; his love for sinners to show. What he did there brought hope from despair.

O how he loves you; O how he loves me; O how he loves you & me!

Offertory Response: Doxology UMH #95
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise God, all creatures here below; Praise God
above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son & Holy Ghost. Amen
Joys & Concerns: Dennis Whittle

Call to Prayer: “Jesus, Remember Me” UMH #488
Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.
Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.

Prayer of Confession: Pastor Lim and the People
Answer us, O God, as we turn to you for mercy and strength. Listen to the yearnings of our
hearts and the regrets of our lives. Comfort us in our distress and pour your grace into our
lives. Redeem us with your love, that we might rise with Christ, newborn and vibrantly alive.
Grant us the confidence to witness to your life-giving love. Amen.

Words of Assurance:
God fills our hearts with joy and covers our lives with grace. Rest in this truth and be at peace. All is well and all
will be well.
The Lord’s Prayer: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come;
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our
trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver
us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen

Opening Hymn: “Soldiers of Christ, Arise” UMH #513, vs 1,2&4

1.Soldiers of Christ, arise, and put your armor on,
Strong in the strength which God supplies through His eternal Son;
Strong in the Lord of Hosts, and in His mighty power,
Who in the strength of Jesus trusts is more than conqueror.
2.Stand then in His great might, with all His strength endued,
But take to arm you for the fight the panoply of God;
That having all things done, and all your conflicts passed,
Ye may o’ercome through Christ alone and stand entire at last.

4.From strength to strength go on, wrestle, and fight, and pray,
Tread all the powers of darkness down and win the well-fought day.

Still let the Spirit cry in all His soldiers, “Come!”

Till Christ the Lord descends from high and take the conquerors home.

Sermon: “They Told What Had Happened On the Road” Pastor Lim

Hymn: “This is a Day of New Beginnings” UMH #383, vs 1,2&4

1.This is a day of new beginnings, time to remember and move on,
Time to believe what love is bringing, laying to rest the pain that’s gone.
2.For by the life and death of Jesus, God’s mighty Spirit, now as then,
Can make for us a world of difference, as faith and hope are born again.

4.Christ is alive and goes before us to show and share what love can do.
This is a day of new beginnings; our God is making all things new.

Benediction:
You are witnesses of God’s love.
We are witnesses of God’s love.
You are witnesses of Christ’s life.
We are witnesses of Christ’s life.
You are witnesses of the power of the Holy Spirit.
We are witnesses of life and love in the Spirit.
Go forth as witnesses of the resurrection and what had happened on the road.
